Computer Audio – Selecting Speakers
Selecting the Audio Output
Sometimes our laptops select the wrong output. Here’s how to change the output as needed.
Windows 10
Click on your speaker icon in the system tray near the time.

Click the ^ in the upper right to expand the menu.

Select the desired output

Windows 11
Click on the speaker icon in the system tray near the time.

Click the > symbol next to the speaker volume

Select the desired output

Audio Source not Detecting
While this is very rare, it is possible to deny Windows 11 to connect to a particular audio source. Here’s how to check those settings.
Search for Settings in the Start menu
Select Sound from the list

Scroll down and select All sound devices

Select the device that is not listed on the speaker icon. In this example we’ll use Extron HDMI.

Click Allow to set Windows so that it can use the device. If you see Don’t Allow, then the device is authorized.
